Mary Ann O’Connell, CFE
Founder and President: She began her franchising career more than 40 years ago as Money Mailer’s first franchisee then was hired as their Vice President of Franchise Support Services. As part of the Great Clips, Inc. executive staff, Mary Ann helped launch two major markets and supported several emerging and mature markets. As a consultant, she has worked with more than 200 major brands as well as new concepts and the top professionals in the world of franchising. Mary Ann and FranWise® focus on strategic planning related to franchise conversion, franchise operations, process and procedure, franchise relations, compliance, manuals and training.
She is an active member of the IFA, sat on the IFA’s Board of Directors, is past chairman of the Women’s Franchise Committee, Membership Committee and the Supplier Forum Advisory Board. She was awarded the WFC’s Crystal Compass Award. Mary Ann is a frequent speaker and writer for many industry events and publications.
When not working, Mary Ann is active in her community and can be found exploring Southern California with her camera or playing with her cats Frankie and Tony.

Cyndee Perkins
is a former high school English teacher who has been involved in franchising for nearly 25 years, both as a franchisee and with the franchisor Computer Explorers. As a franchisee with Computer Explorers, she and her husband received the first “Franchisee of the Year” award and were the first 2-unit owners. After transferring their business to new owners, they moved to corporate headquarters in Great Falls, VA and then to Houston, Texas. Over the course of her association with the company, Perkins headed franchise support with emphasis on marketing and customer service, franchise development, and new-owner training. Her scope of experience makes her uniquely able to understand the needs of both the franchisee and the franchisor … and the importance of readable manuals!
In addition to working in franchising, Perkins loves to travel and has visited six of the seven continents, “We have Antarctica on our Bucket List,” she reports, “but now that I live in Florida, the ice floes have much less appeal!’
